Stories and highlights
Within our school
At Fairfax Public School we provide an engaging and supportive learning environment that encourages effort and drives achievement. We celebrate learning, growth and success.
Public Speaking
Reflecting our current cohort of student strengths, developing skills in public speaking has been a key focus in recent years. High expectations in oral language form the foundation for students to develop skills and confidence in expressing themselves to an audience. We regularly announce on the local radio station 2MaxFM and this year we were represented at the state finals in the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition in 2025.
Visual Arts
We are fortunate to access the expertise of a visual arts teacher who has given students the opportunity to develop their visual arts skill and excel. This is reflected in our success in the Currabubula Small Schools Art Show for the last two years. A second and a Highly Commended were our results this year from two entries.
Partnering with local schools
To maximise learning opportunities, we partner with local, small schools to provide increased team, sporting (including PSSA representation), excursion and cultural opportunities.
A focus on Public Speaking has also led us to join with Bellata Public School to compete in the NSW Premier’s Debating Challenge. In our first year, the combined Bellata/Fairfax team won all four of their zone debates to become zone winners.
Belonging in our community
Fairfax Public School has been the central hub of the Maules Creek community for over 100 years. It is important to our identity to support and be supported by the local community. Assisting in organisation and participation in local, community events such as ANZAC Day, Australia Day and Clean Up Australia Day are very important to us and appreciated by our community.
