Welcome to our kitchen and garden.
As always we have been making use of our lovely fresh produce from our garden in all of our recipes this term.
We have had another bumper crop of oranges and mandarins this season so we decided to again make some of our delicious "Quadriple Citrus Marmalade"
We have also had a very successful radish season! Our Daikon Radishes are huge! we have decided to make some tasty Pickled Radish, check out our very simple recipe.
This year we have been studying Nepal for our local CWA International Day.
We created a delicious traditional Mongolian Dahl Baht with Takari and rice to share with our local Maules Creek CWA branch. It was delicious!
Our delicious Triple Citrus Marmalade has been bottled and is ready for some fresh scones, pikelets or even some warm toast for breakfast!
We picked some of our very fresh and tasty Oranges and Mandarins from our garden and began chopping, with the addition of some lemon and grapefruit, and of course some sugar, we have again created some very yummy marmalade! Check out our recipe and try it for yourself!
Triple citrus marmalade (PDF 432KB) - We added mandarins to the recipe making the same amount of fruit, we used 750g each of oranges, mandarins, lemons and grapefruit... absolutely delicious!
To celebrate Daffodil Day - we choose to make a "Yellow" recipe using our lovely fresh oranges straight from our orange tree!
The recipe was super easy and the cake was light and moist, we made a gluten free version as well, check out the recipe we used from the Cancer Council.
Our spinach plants are growing really well so we have been on the hunt for delicious, easy and healthy recipes we can use. So far we have created a very nice Potato and Spinach Torte as well as a sweet potato and spinach torte, we also created an epic but well worth it Pumpkin, Spinach and Ricotta Cheese Lasagne. Yum!
The pastry for the torte is super easy to make and you will definitely make this recipe more than once!

In preparation for our CWA International Day we have begun researching and learning about Mongolian Culture. Our Kitchen Lesson this week was based on Traditional Mongolian Dumplings know as "Buuz." These were delicious, and very easy to make, click Mongolian Dumplings - Buuz (PDF 782KB) to see the recipe, we served our "Buuz" with dipping sauces from our previous recipes - Vegetable Gyoza Dipping Sauce (PDF 1.03MB) and Vietnamese Dipping Sauce. Traditionally these dumplings are served either hot or cold with tomato ketchup.
